Motive | Currents
ON VIEW FEBRUARY - MAY, 2026
OPENING RECEPTION
TUESDAY, March 3rd 5:30-7:00PM
Movement is an essential part of what defines a current. A current is defined by
its on-goingness, directional nature, and often its unseen aspects. Motive Currents looks at the driving forces behind both the artist and the artist's images; Impulse, Repetition, Emotion, and Intent are all examples of these forces. The works included in this exhibition have moved through space and have taken shape through various forms of expression and motivation which reveal the role that purpose plays in visual language.
Motive becomes apparent through the artists' mark making, patterns, and forms. During the curation of Motive Currents, shared visual impulses were realized (recurring motions, layered spaces, continuous gestures) among the individual
artists' works, creating a sense of a collective drive or a current of intention that flows through each of the works included in the exhibition. This exhibition has brought together a variety of artistic mediums and approaches representing the changing motivations and visual energies of the contributing artists.

Exhibition presented by Artists' Exchange and will be on display at the historic
Park Theatre.
